Perseids meteor shower is one of the most famous meteor showers in the northern hemisphere. This photo, captured on Aug 24, 2007, shows two  meteors passing around constellation Auriga. While the lower meteor apparently is a Perseid meteor (since its path crosses the Perseids constellation, the meteor on the left looks like to be sporadic.  Constellation Taurus is seen on the top/right of the image. The photo is a single exposure with an exposure time of 30 seconds.

Perseids-2008

The Perseids 2008 activity is the topic of this post.

The 2008 activity was in a normal to slightly enhanced level. There is a sharp peak after the normal peak, at a solar longitude of 140.6 .

Perseids-2007

The Perseids 2007 activity is the topic of this post.


As seen in the above plot, the early peak that was observed in 88-99 and also in 2004 is not seen here. The activity level is modetare and resembles a normal Perseids meteor shower. A peak ZHR of about 90 is similar to 2005 activity level.

Perseids-2005

The Perseids 2005 activity is discussed in this post. After wonderful activity in 2004, the 2005 Perseids shower was not as spectacular.

The 2005 Perseids exhibited a normal to rather low maximum activity level. There is no clear peak time, but this can still be due to the limited amount of data. It might be that  the maximum of the 2005 Perseids was broad, with best rates between Aug 12, 1h and Aug 13, 3h UT reaching a ZHR of about 90.
